Sander Struck

Duxbury – January 12, 2022

A crash during the most recent snowstorm highlights the importance of reducing speed and increasing awareness when traveling during bad weather. While investigating a collision between a car and a Town sanding truck, Duxbury Police obtained video which shows the car traveling too fast for the conditions and striking the truck.

The accident occurred Saturday evening, on Tremont St., in front of the Fire Department Headquarters. The operator of the car was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the sander suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The Duxbury Police would like to remind drivers to reduce their speed and be cautious when driving in winter weather to compensate for decreased visibility and increased stopping distances. It could save your life. We would also like to point out that crashes like this are exactly why the Massachusetts “Move Over Law” was enacted. The law mandates drivers to slow down and move over for road maintenance, public safety, and other service vehicles. The people who put their lives at risk to help others deserve this protection and your attention.
