Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services

The Duxbury Police Department is committed to responding to the mental health needs of our community.  This page is dedicated to our efforts and is maintained by our Crisis Intervention Team.

Starting May 2023 we integrated a mental health clinician into our team. Our new clinician is Jenna Cohen who will respond with Officers. Jenna's position is funded through a regional Jail Diversion Grant awarded to Marshfield, Norwell, and Duxbury. She is employed by Advocates.

Crisis Intervention Team Mission

The Duxbury Police Department Crisis Intervention Team is committed to providing a professional, compassionate, and specialized police response to behavioral health consumers, persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We believe in the dignity of all people and strive for collaboration while improving outcomes for consumers, reducing demands on police resources, and improving safety for officers, consumers and the community.

Crisis Intervention Team Values

Prevention: We believe in identifying the underlying issues creating police calls and reducing them.
Collaboration: We understand that working together is key to providing the best possible services to our consumers. We constantly work to expand our network of partners in healthcare, public safety, government, and academia.
Diversion: We strive to connect individuals with behavioral health services with the goal of reducing involvement in the criminal justice system.
Professional Development: We continuously work to improve our skills and learn more about all aspects of behavioral health and to share our knowledge and experience with the Department at large.
