The Crime Scene Unit is staffed by two full time officers, Officer Mary Ellen Vidito and Sergeant Andrew Homestead. This unit is under the command of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
These officers are responsible for processing all crimes scenes within the Town of Duxbury. CSU Officers have had extensive training in photography and identification of fingerprints, along with collection and processing of evidence including the recovery of footwear, tire impressions and tool marks.
CSU Officer's assist the Patrol Division and Traffic Unit by conducting various tasks such as taking in any property or evidence Officer's may seize, and if need be process the items for fingerprint evidence. Assisting the Traffic/Crash Unit usually consists of photographing Fatal or Serious Bodily Injury Crashes.
CSU Officers are available by appointment to take fingerprints at no cost for various reasons such as employment, VISA, etc. Please make an appointment by following the fingerprinting services link on the left side of this page.
