For over 38 years Harbormaster Donald Beers as served the Town of Duxbury. On September 12, 2016 he officially retired leaving the position in the capable hands of his Executive Officer Jake Emerson who has been named the acting harbormaster until the position is officially filled.

In Don’s letter announcing his retirement he said “ It has been a great pleasure and honor serving the Town of Duxbury as the Harbormaster. Being the Harbormaster of Duxbury has been an adventure of a life time for me and my family. This is a bitter sweet decision that my family and I have made. I want to thank you very much for your support, guidance and friendship during my service to the Town of Duxbury. I am very proud and thankful of our collective achievements and accomplishments over many years. This is truly the best front yard a town could have.”

Harbormaster Beers has done an exceptional job running the Harbormaster department. Day in and day out, regardless of the task Don exhibited the highest level of professionalism, dedication, and leadership. We tip our hat to Harbormaster Beers for his service to the Town.
