Duxbury Officer Assists State Police in Stopping a Wrong Way Driver
December 29th, 2015 –Duxbury Police assisted the Massachusetts State Police in stopping a wrong way driver on Route 3 early Sunday morning (12/27). At 3:45 AM State Police reported a vehicle traveling south, in the northbound lanes of Rte 3, heading into Duxbury. As State Police Units paralleled the vehicle on the southbound side, Duxbury Officer James Tougas was traveling northbound attempting to slow the flow of the northbound vehicles. Other Duxbury Officers were preparing to deploy tire deflation devices south of the oncoming vehicle. Just south of exit 11, Officer Tougas encountered a Grey Infinity sedan traveling the wrong way. He was able to force the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder of the road without incident. State Police took the operator, a 30 year old Quincy woman, into custody.
