The Duxbury Police Department hosts an annual summer Junior Police Academy for Duxbury students in grades 6-8. The week-long program introduces children to a variety of public service fields, including but not limited to the Police Department, Fire Department, Harbormaster, House of Corrections, and the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department. Students will engage in team-building activities and be given an introduction to self-defense, first aid, CPR, firearms safety, and more. To read more and see pictures from our 2015 Junior Police Academy, see pages 7-8 of the August 2015 DPD Newsletter.
Dates for the 2019 Junior Police Academy are to be determined.
Space is limited, and students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The Duxbury Junior Police Academy is free of charge, however, donations are appreciated.
We also offer a Citizens Police Academy for Duxbury residents, 21 years of age and older. Read about the DPD Citizens Police Academy here.
