Professional Standards and Training

Training, Recruiting, and Accreditation

The Professional Standards and Training division is in charge of day-to-day training of all department personnel along with all hiring and recruitment processes for the department. This division also maintains our department's policies, manages our accreditation process and implements exams to our officers on a regular basis to ensure overall excellence and proficiency on department procedures.

Duxbury Police Department participates in the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program (MPAP), therefore, every three (3) years, the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC) inspects our policies and procedures as well as our operations and facilities. The MPAP consists of 257 mandatory standards and 125 optional standards. In order for the department to achieve accreditation status, we must meet all mandatory standards and at least 55% of optional standards. This program is a self-initiated process by which all departments involved strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established by the profession, for the profession. Achieving Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

The Town of Duxbury is an equal opportunity employer.
