Vehicle broken into on Chapel Street

Duxbury – January 2, 2018

Shortly before 2AM on Sunday morning Duxbury Patrol Officers responded to a reported vehicle break-in in progress on Chapel St. A description of an older model Silver Mercedes Sedan was given to arriving officers by a witness who stated that two young men were dropped off in the area by the Mercedes. One of the men was seen entering a parked car on Chapel St. The owner of the parked car reported that a backpack containing a laptop computer was missing from the car.
Video footage from the area indicates that the suspects fled the area as responding officers arrived.
While searching for the suspects officers found and recovered the stolen backpack and laptop on a roadside several miles away.
The Department would like to remind residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables to prevent theft. In this case, observant residents and a rapid response by officers are credited with preventing the loss of valuable property.
