Man Arrested After Assaulting Officers

Man Arrested After Assaulting Officers

On May 1, 2020 at 5:30pm Officers were dispatched to the area of Standish Shores after
receiving multiple reports of a suspicious man following female joggers in his truck and making
comments that made them very nervous. He was later located at the beach on Massasoit
Road.
Officers began speaking with the man who was highly agitated and belligerent. He began
yelling threats and profanities at the officers and the nearby residents. The man was fully clothed
and soaked with water up to his shoulders, apparently from swimming in the water off of the
beach. He aggressively advanced towards officers with his fists clenched and was ordered to
stay back. He ignored officer’s commands and came at them again. Officers began to restrain
him and he violently resisted, attempting to punch and kick the officers. Once in custody he was
identified as Michael Proulx, age 66 of Scituate. Proulx was placed in an ambulance for
evaluation. While on the stretcher Proulx threatened to kill the arresting officers and their families.
Numerous open and unopened containers of alcohol where found in Proulx’s vehicle. Proulx
was transported to the hospital by the Duxbury Fire Department for minor injuries and was later
returned to the Police Station where he was held until being bailed.

Michael Proulx will be charged with the following offenses:

1.) Disorderly Conduct
2.) Disturbing the Peace
3.) Two counts of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
4.) Resisting arrest
5.) Threatening to commit a crime
