Duxbury Police Awarded Mental Health Training Grant

Duxbury, MA – 3/20/2019

The Duxbury Police Department has been awarded a grant by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. The jail/arrest diversion grant will help cover the costs of sending several officers to crisis intervention team training this spring. By completing this training we will have completed all the requirements of the International Chiefs of Police “One Mind Campaign”.

Requirements of the One Mind Campaign are: establish model policy for mental health response, participate in a mental health collaborative, train 100% of Officers in mental health first aid, and train 20% of Officers in crisis intervention.

We would like to recognize the Plymouth County Suicide Prevention Coalition for providing free mental health first aid training, and Taunton CCIT for providing CIT training.
