Disturbance Leads to Standoff

Duxbury – January 2, 2020

On the evening of January 1, 2020 members of the Duxbury Police Department responded to a Tobey Garden St. residence for a reported disturbance involving an emotionally disturbed individual. Upon arrival at the scene officers determined that a physical altercation between two male siblings involving the use of knives and potentially a firearm had occurred. One of the siblings briefly locked himself in a room and would not respond to officers. A short time later the individual emerged from the room and was restrained by officers. He was later transported to a hospital, by the Duxbury Fire Department, for a mental health evaluation. The involved firearm was determined to be an air rifle.

Officers form the Kingston Police Department assisted at the scene.

Due to the nature of the incident and the relationship between the involved parties, no additional information will be released. There is no ongoing threat to the community. The incident remains under investigation and charges are expected to be filed.
