Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council
As of 2010, neighboring law enforcement communities are participating in the collaboration of law enforcement resources. The purpose of S.E.M.L.E.C. is to provide various mutual aid services to participating agencies in the event of any natural or manmade incidents that would require resources beyond the capacity of the any one police agency.
The Duxbury Police Department is a proud member of S.E.M.L.E.C. There are currently four Officers that are part of SEMLEC teams and specialize in SWAT, Search and Rescue, and Crisis Negotiations. Equipment and training expenses are covered by grant monies obtained by S.E.M.L.E.C.
The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC)
The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) is a consortium of 43+ local area police departments and law enforcement agencies. These agencies work together to provide unique and highly specialized law enforcement resources to all of its member communities. This regional support system allows the communities involved to have access to some outstanding services, forces and equipment to ensure their well being in this post 9/11 environment. In this age, law enforcement agencies are faced with an insurmountable number of unique crimes, emergencies and possible disasters. It is unreasonable, and financially impossible, for every community to be fully trained and equipped for every possible contingency. Therefore, local communities have banned together, with organizations such as MetroLEC, uniting to help each other and making us all safer in the end. The member communities acknowledge that certain critical incidents call for a law enforcement response that may exceed the capabilities of any one single agency, now; they can call on the assistance of MetroLEC for such situations. MetroLEC consists of several operational components, comprised of personnel from throughout the MetroLEC communities. These units receive specialized training and equipment and are available to assist any one of the member communities in their time of need. Several Duxbury Officers are part of Metro LEC and specialize in SWAT, K-9, Motorcycle (MOP), Investigations, and Child Abduction Response Team.
