Scam Alert: Beware of the "Can you hear me now" phone scam

The Duxbury Police are warning residents of a new phone scam. This scam is happening to residents of Duxbury and residents of other local communities. The way the scam works is you receive a phone call from a person, very often a recorded voice, introducing themselves. They may say they are adjusting their headset and then ask " can you hear me?". The scammer is looking for you to say "yes" at which point they are recording your voice. They then use your recorded voice to set up accounts in your name.

You can prevent these scams by not answering phone calls from numbers you do not know. If you are ever suspicious of a person calling, hang up. And if you believe you have been a victim of this or any scam report it to the Duxbury Police and online to the Federal Trade Commission (click here to be redirected the FTC complaint website). You should also monitor your credit report for any activity.
