Objectives of a Reconstructionist
The objectives of a reconstructionist are to determine:
- WHAT happened
- WHERE the crash occurred
- WHEN the crash occurred
- WHY the crash occurred
- WHO was involved
- HOW the crash happened
Other responsibilities:
- Forensic mapping of non-related crash scenes
- Mapping of other crime scenes
- Assisting officers and investigators when piecing together a crime
As with any scene, mapping helps document evidence and witness' location and ultimately supplies the investigator with explanations to the what, where, when, why, who, and how.
