Each year there are thousands of auto accidents on the roadways of Massachusetts

Many of these accidents involve serious injuries and present complex issues.

The Duxbury Police Department has two highly trained officers who provide expertise in the reconstruction of motor vehicle accidents.

Sergeant Michael Carbone and Officer Ryan Cavicchi are responsible for performing collision analysis and reconstructing motor vehicle accidents.

  • WHY the accident occurred
  • WHO was involved

Other Responsibilities 

 This allows the reconstructionist to recreate an accident scene to scale and generate the scene in 3D.  Once a scene drawn it can be animated, giving investigators and prosecutors a recreation of events.

Also enabling the reconstructionist to formulate calculations using over 200 equations.  These equations allow the reconstructionist to calculate, speed, energy, momentum, distance, time, acceleration, drag factor, and many other important factors.

 Forensic mapping of non-related crash scenes.   Mapping of other crime scenes, assist officers and investigators piecing together a crime.

As with any scene, mapping helps document evidence and witnesses location and ultimately supplies the investigator with explanations to the what, where, when, why, who, and how.
